A Study on the Health Status of Women Home Workers in Seoul by THI


Abstract
This study was carried out from August 25 to September 25, 1990 in order to evaluate the psychosomatic health status of women home workers.
The basic tool employed in this study was the Todai Health Index(THI) which was developed by Tokyo University Research Group in 1977. THI is an modified Cornell Medical Index(CMI).
The data were obtained from the samples of korean home working women labors living on poor streets in Seoul, they made dolls, neck-lace, etc by order.
The data were compared with korean women workers in the workplaces, and japanese women, The data by age, length of service, marital status, working hours, working place size were collected.
The results obtained were summarized as follows
1. The responses of psychosomatic complaints were higher in physical parts, but lower in mental parts in compare with korean women workers in the wotkplaces.
2. The responses of psychosomatic complaints were higher in whole level in compare with japanese workers.
3. The responses of psychosomatic complaints were affected by age, length of service, marital status, and working place size in physical part.
4. The responses of psychosomatic complaints were affected by length of service, marital status, and working place size in psychological part.
